Trying out more in depth update notes to see if anyone finds it interesting and/or useful and if anyone can help give us feedback on changes. So let us know
These notes are related to update 0.0.31.
- Let us know if you want to see this kind of thing for each update.
This update I have been focusing on performance options, continuing to expand the "System Menu". Boring work but needs to be done! Hah. These options should help with those testers with lower spec machines getting poor performance, and allow others to tweak their performance/visual quality balance if you're into that sort of thing. There are of course still the standard Low, Med and High presets we defined and continue to refine. We will likely create a "Minimum" preset (aka "just-make-it-work- " setting) with everything at the lowest possible performance requirements for extremely low budget builds, and an "Ultra" mode with everything maxed out for very high spec machines.
Optimization will be a continuous process throughout Early Access.
Expect more settings, settings to be properly saving on changes and loading/setting on start up!
- Let us know if you want to see any particular settings that are missing.
- If you get a chance; play around with the settings and see they are usable and bug free on your system.
In this update and previous ones, Danny @abstractionaut has been responding to weapon handling balance / over powered comments, mostly in regard to the Longsword (also referred to as the Claymore) and shield. The Longsword has been adjusted to better reflect its size and weight, slowing down its maneuverability to balance its long length.
The shield handling has been improved to be more responsive to help a player block attacks. Offhand (dual wielding) controls have been changed for lagging behind aim direction as with other offhand weapons to responsive aim direction.
The spear stances (trigger held positions LT, RT or LT+RT) have been changed to allow for easier spear throwing and jab positioning. A "drag surface" system was added to the spear to improve "aerodynamics" - better flight path from throws. Spear drag and weight settings have also been adjusted.
- Test out the shield, spear and dual wielding both and tell us what you think.
Alexey @nomand is back to working on SFX and music. Part way through integrating Elias to replace the temporary dynamic music setup in Fabric (that we use for SFX).
Expect sfx improvements (training bell) and extra sound effects to be showing up.
